OpenZeppelin Joins Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust

Written by OpenZeppelin | January 7, 2026

We're excited to announce that OpenZeppelin has joined Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust as a member. This membership reflects our decade-long commitment to building open, secure, and accessible blockchain infrastructure, and our belief that the future of decentralized technology depends on collaborative, community-driven standards.

Since our founding in 2015, OpenZeppelin has been at the forefront of blockchain security. Our open-source smart contract libraries have secured more than $30 trillion in onchain value transferred. Leading stablecoin issuers and tokenized fund providers, including Circle, PayPal, Ethena, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Ondo, Superstate, WisdomTree, and more, rely on OpenZeppelin's open source technologies to power their products.

We've always believed that security infrastructure should be open and accessible to everyone building in this industry.

LF Decentralized Trust shares this philosophy. As a neutral home for open source decentralized software, LF Decentralized Trust brings together developers, enterprises, and organizations to advance blockchain technology through collaboration and shared standards. By joining, we're deepening our commitment to the open source principles that have defined our work from day one.

What This Means for the Blockchain Ecosystem

Our membership in LF Decentralized Trust will enable us to:

Contribute to Critical Infrastructure: We'll work alongside other leading organizations to advance security standards and best practices across blockchain ecosystems. Our expertise in smart contract security, auditing, and developer tooling will help strengthen the foundation that enterprise and institutional adoption depends on.

Shape Industry Standards: From tokenization standards for financial institutions to confidential computing frameworks, we'll work within LF Decentralized Trust to help define the security and compliance requirements that real-world blockchain applications need.

Support Developer Education: We'll contribute to educational initiatives and developer resources that make secure blockchain development more accessible, particularly in emerging markets and underrepresented regions.

Building the Future Together

Blockchain technology is maturing rapidly. Financial institutions are tokenizing real-world assets. Enterprises are exploring private, compliant blockchain solutions. Developers are building the next generation of decentralized applications. All of this requires robust, battle-tested infrastructure that organizations can trust.

That's what OpenZeppelin has always delivered, and what we'll continue to build alongside the LF Decentralized Trust community.

Open source has always been at the heart of blockchain's promise: transparent, accessible, and collectively maintained infrastructure. By joining the LF Decentralized Trust, we're reinforcing that commitment and ensuring that as blockchain technology scales, it does so on a foundation of shared security standards and collaborative innovation.

We look forward to working with the LF Decentralized Trust community to make blockchain infrastructure safer, more accessible, and ready for global adoption.
